
THE COMPANY:
Pequén Producciones is an indepent production company based in Santiago de Chile. Our goal is to produce projects with a strong authorial voice and a reflection on the society we inhabit. Being filmmakers is a personal and political commitment for us. To date, Pequén Producciones has premiered 4 feature-length documentaries, 3 short films, and one fiction film in minority co-production at international festivals.
THE ASSOCIATES:
Karin Cuyul, studied Cinema at Arcis University and EICTV Cuba . She is co-founder of Pequén Producciones. In 2019, she premiered her debut feature as a director, “Story of my Name” at the Rotterdam Film Festival, where she obtained a Special Mention. As a producer, she produced the documentary essay “Tótem”, by the Unidad de Montaje Dialéctico collective (2021-Mexico, Chile); the documentary short film “No nos soltemos más”, by Alkisti Efthymiou (2021-Chile) and the fiction feature film “Three Brothers”, by Francisco Paparella (2022-Argentina, Chile). In 2023 she releases the short documentary “Notes for the future” at FICValdivia. Karin is currently directing her second feature film “The life that will come”.
Joséphine Schroeder is a French producer, living between Santiago and Paris, an co-founder of Pequén Producciones. She is an alumni of EAVE Puentes and Berlinale Talents. Her productions are “Historia de mi Nombre” by Karin Cuyul (IFFR 2019), “Gaucho Americano” (Hot Docs 2021) and “Pirópolis” (Tribeca 2024) by Nicolás Molina, and as minority coproducer “3 Hermanos” by Francisco Paparella (Mar del Plata 2023). In 2024 she is a participant in EURODOC and heads the industry section of the Festival CLAP. Currently, Joséphine is producing Karin Cuyul’s next film “The life that will come” and developing feature documentaries in France.
